Kodi Expert review of Beelink BT3 Pro II Mini Kodi Box

Beelink is one of Chinese TV Box’s most popular brand and not without reason. It’s a great choice for everyone because it’s powerful interiors, excellent video processing and modern design. Look closer at Beelink BT3 Pro and see what this Windows 10 device can do.

After purchasing more expensive and less expensive Android TV boxes I was prepared in January to ship this back to Amazon as I’ve done with several comparable purchases. To my delighted surprise the Beelink appears to be a very good choice!

The Beelink BT3 Pro comes with Intel Atom x5–Z8350 processor with Intel HD Graphic GPU and 4 GB RAM, bringing your film experience to a new level. This configuration allows you to watch Full HD 4 K videos without buffering, freezing, and dropping frame rate as you would in older devices.

What’s interesting, it’s not your typical TV box, but your all-in – one Mini PC, because designers are choosing to dissolve Android for new Windows 10. This gives it a lot of new capabilities and if you add monitor, keyboard and mouse, you will actually get a full-fledged personal computer that you can use as a work tool, not just for entertainment.

You can install any Windows software, and you are no longer restricted by Google Play apps from Android alone.

Quick online connectivity is enabled via 2.4/5.8GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 or wired 1 Gbps LAN Ethernet with an adaptive network card. Beelink BT3 Pro has two video output ports: HDMI and VGA and can be configured to work with dual monitors. It is also very friendly to beginners–just plug it in, enable WiFi, and you can browse the web, watch videos online, chat on social media with your friends, or even do some serious work.

It plays every format I’ve tried, including newer x265 HEVC videos that wouldn’t play on the the more expensive KDLINKS A300 or the Goobang Aq1 I bought in 2017. The GT1 “upscales” every video so some older items look better than before. I haven’t used Kodi much but it seems to work fine and if I could configure it with a much simpler interface I would use it. I prefer VLC player for its minimal GUI. The GT1 doesn’t lag or freeze as other players have done and the 4GB RAM probably helps. The remote control is OK but I’m using an inexpensive Rii MX3 Multifunction 2.4G Fly Mouse Mini Wireless Keyboard & Infrared Remote Control & 3-Gyro + 3-Gsensor for Google Android TV/Box, IPTV, HTPC, Windows, MAC OS, PS3 most of the time and it’s perfect for my needs. I even installed Floristry as a test and sometimes, when bored by the movie playing, I set the video up in a screen corner and play the game with amazing (to me) ease. The GT1 is tiny but has a small LCD clock on front, an HDMI out port, 2 USB ports (I’m not sure if they’re 2 or 3 but with my ancient USB drives it doesn’t matter), an RJ45 port, Bluetooth 4.0, a microSD card slot (stated max capacity is 32GB but I haven’t tried anything higher) and support for wireless “IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4G+5.8G,” which is the only area of “complaint” — as others have noted the wifi seems to drop the signal or playback buffers on larger files. Luckily for me this isn’t an issue since I use the RJ-45 port but if you have to use wifi you should test it heavily while the return window is still open! Finally, even though I just bought the GT1 in early August 2018, recently I was surprised when a message popped up stating an OTA firmware update was ready.
